🗓 Day 1 – Getting to Know Each Other & Setting the Green Path
The first day of ECOBRIDGE: Green Bridge from Youth to the Future in Herne, hosted by Forum für Zusammenleben und Vielfalt e.V., was full of energy and connection. We began with name games and icebreakers, creating a friendly and open atmosphere. Through these activities, participants quickly got to know one another and built the foundation for teamwork and collaboration.
Afterward, we had group discussions where we shared what our countries and we individually do for the environment, focusing on activism, sustainability, and good practices. We then reflected on our fears, expectations, and contributions — what we hope to learn, what we might find challenging, and how each of us can add value to the project and its environmental mission.
Later, we attended an informative session about Erasmus+ and Youthpass, learning more about the opportunities within the Erasmus+ framework and how to recognize and record our learning outcomes.
We closed the day with a reflective session, mapping our journey in youth work — looking at where we started, where we stand now, and how projects like ECOBRIDGE can help us grow as youth workers committed to a sustainable future. 🌍💚

We began with the Introduction and Analysis of Financing Sources Session, where participants explored local, national, and international funding opportunities for environmental and youth initiatives. The session highlighted various forms of financial support — including grants, donations, sponsorships, and government programmes — and discussed both their advantages and challenges. Participants also learned about application procedures, eligibility criteria, and useful tips for successful proposals.
The following Creating Project Ideas and Brainstorming Session invited participants to think creatively and develop new concepts in the fields of environment and youth engagement. Working in teams, they brainstormed innovative ideas and began drafting the foundations of potential eco-projects, enhancing teamwork and collaborative problem-solving.
During the Session on Developing Financing Strategies, participants analysed their project ideas in more depth, identifying financial needs, suitable funding sources, and budgeting priorities. This session helped them understand how to align project goals with realistic financial planning and choose the most appropriate funding paths.
In the Financing Application Preparation and Presentation Techniques Session, participants gained hands-on experience in preparing effective funding applications. They explored how to structure proposals, highlight project impact, and present ideas persuasively to funders. Practical exercises and feedback sessions gave them the confidence and tools to apply these skills in real-life contexts.
At the end of the day, everyone came together for a daily reflection, sharing what they had learned and how they could apply it in their future youth work.
The day ended with a lively Intercultural Night, hosted by Hungary, Türkiye, and Bulgaria, where participants enjoyed traditional food, music, and dances. Our international participants from Malaysia and Ecuador also introduced their cultures, sharing stories, customs, and experiences from their countries.
